The feeling I attempted to catch here is that of a warm summer afternoon spent enjoying the luxuriant growth of meadow grasses and wildflowers. The Coyote Plateau extends east towards the Owens Valley from the main chain of the Sierra Nevada, and is a popular area for people from Bishop to escape the summer heat. This image shows the line of East Fork Coyote Creek bending through a meadow at 9600 feet, with the White Mountains and fair-weather cumulus clouds visible in the background. Sagebrush covers the dry, lower slopes, and pines and mountain mahogany cover the higher slopes to the right in this panoramic view.
