Like most Agaves, California’s desert agave is monocarpic, meaning it flowers once and dies. Desert agave (Agave deserti var. deserti) does, however, produce little rosettes around its base that eventually grow to adulthood, so only the flowering rosette dies. (In contrast, simple desert agave, Agave deserti var. simplex, produces only one rosette.) It takes about 8 to 20 years for the plant to produce a large flowering stalk, but even as it is flowering, the plant is dying, having put all of its resources into making flowers for pollinators. As the plant dies, its bluish-green leaves and flowering stalk change to a color range of warm hues that slowly darken and dry, lending themselves to colorful abstract images.

About the Fine Art Photos
Premium fine art canvas wraps are printed directly onto museum-quality canvas using high-quality archival inks. The canvas used is specially coated, ph neutral and archival, and comes in surfaces that are glossy, lustre (near-matte surface), or metallic for a radiant glow.
Metal prints are made by infusing dyes directly onto specially coated, .045 aluminum sheets that are durable, scratch resistant, and easy to clean. They are waterproof and weatherproof, but should not be displayed in direct sunlight. They come with 1/8″ rounded corners and are ready to hang.
Prints take 15-20 days to process, then will be shipped.
