The Mono Basin experiences inversions in the winter that frequently produce what is known as “poconip.” This cold fog can leave hoarfrost on withered leaves, twigs and small branches. These cottonwood tree silhouettes stood out in the cold fog above the frost-coated willows, and I saw their intricate forms as an appealing composition.

This photo works well as either a canvas or metal print.

About the Fine Art Photos

Premium fine art canvas wraps are printed directly onto museum-quality canvas using high-quality archival inks. The canvas used is specially coated, ph neutral and archival, and comes in surfaces that are glossy, lustre (near-matte surface), or metallic for a radiant glow.

Metal prints are made by infusing dyes directly onto specially coated, .045 aluminum sheets that are durable, scratch resistant, and easy to clean. They are waterproof and weatherproof, but should not be displayed in direct sunlight. They come with 1/8″ rounded corners and are ready to hang.

Prints take 15-20 days to process, then will be shipped.

Stephen Ingram is a professional photographer, writer, and botanist, who has lived in the highly photogenic Eastern Sierra Nevada region since 1994. As a native Californian, he is passionate about photographing, as well as preserving, his state’s native plants and their habitats. With a home base surrounded by 14,000’ mountains rising from the high desert, Stephen finds plenty of inspiration for photographing the landscapes of the Great Basin, Mojave Desert, and the high Sierra Nevada.

Stephen also has an avid interest in weather and the cloud formations that frequently add their form and color to the region’s skies, and he is proud to be a “card-carrying member of the Cloud Appreciation Society.” Learn more about Stephen
