One cold morning in mid-December as a winter snowstorm was clearing, I noticed this handsome buck, and approached with my 80-200 mm zoom lens. Because I wanted to use all of the dramatic Mt. Tom in the background, I zoomed out until the peak of the mountain was visible.

The Round Valley mule deer herd spends the winter in Round Valley and the surrounding hills where deer rely on bitterbrush to get them through the winter. The Eastern Sierra Land Trust holds several conservation easements in Swall Meadows, an area of over 100 homes situated in the heart of this herd’s winter range and migratory route. These two deer were enjoying the open space safeguarded by a conservation easement on our neighbor’s property, and they probably like the view of Mt. Tom too.

This image works well printed on either canvas or metal.

About the Fine Art Photos

Premium fine art canvas wraps are printed directly onto museum-quality canvas using high-quality archival inks. The canvas used is specially coated, ph neutral and archival, and comes in surfaces that are glossy, lustre (near-matte surface), or metallic for a radiant glow.

Metal prints are made by infusing dyes directly onto specially coated, .045 aluminum sheets that are durable, scratch resistant, and easy to clean. They are waterproof and weatherproof, but should not be displayed in direct sunlight. They come with 1/8″ rounded corners and are ready to hang.

Prints take 15-20 days to process, then will be shipped.
